My Randomness, in a Nutshell

My good friend Da Goddess has challenged me to name 10 random things about myself, so here they are:

1. I met Da Goddess because of my dog’s gas. Thanks, Deb.

2. I love nuts but only if they are not inside of other food. If you put ’em in brownies, not only will I shun the nuts, but I’ll also refuse the brownie (and I loves me some brownie). The same goes with ice cream, Jell-o, etc.

3. I am famous for my chocolate chip cookies. People always ask for the recipe, so here it is.

4. I go to church every Sunday (okay, almost every Sunday).

5. I’ve always considered myself the ugly sister.

6. My baby book is one of my most prized possessions. I keep it locked in the fire-proof safe. My mom did a great job making sure my baby book was just as full as my sister’s, who was born two years earlier.

7. I met my husband through a coworker but I truly believe he was sent to me because I asked for him. Several years before I met him, I made a list of the qualities I wanted in a man.
The list:
cares about his appearance but isn’t obsessed with it
health-conscious but not obsessed
someone I can be myself with and who makes me a better person

My husband is all of those things, except maybe natural/earthy. He is a wonderful man–perfect for me, and a terrific father. I am blessed.

8. I love movies and now that I have a baby, I love Netflix. My taste in movies varies widely. Some of my favorites are:
Auntie Mame
Kill Bill I and II
Indiana Jones (the first three, notsomuch the new one)
The First Wives Club
The Long Kiss Goodnight
Father Goose
Pillow Talk
Top Secret
The Birdcage
An Affair to Remember
Sabrina (both the original and the remake)
Better Off Dead
Breakfast at Tiffany’s
and pretty much anything by Kevin Smith

9. I used to kill spiders. I don’t anymore because of a particularly terrible incident this summer where I found a spider in my bathroom sink. I ran the water and washed it down the drain, but when I returned a few hours later, I found the spider, sans several legs, attempting to crawl its way up the side of the sink. It was the most pathetic thing I’d ever seen, and I felt horrible. Now when I see a spider, I leave it alone. Unless it’s in the shower while I’m naked. If that happens, all bets are off.

10. I’m turning into a blues fan because of a friend who loves the blues more than anyone I’ve ever met. Her passion for blues music is inspiring and infectious. Ask her, she’ll tell you.

Well, that’s it. It’s amazing how easy it was to find ten things about myself that were random. Now, for the tags. I pick Susan and Myra. Thanks for reading!
