He can self-publish, there are several good outfits that can do that for him – marketing, advice, put him in contact with a ghost writer, copy editor, indexer, if he needs them. Writers do this every day; he can get his story out there without going through the usual commercial meatgrinder. Many of those books sell very well, I imagine there'd be a lot of interest in his story.

Oregonbird-

You should have seen me when I saw Katie Perry on stage in that holey dress!! I don't know if we can consider her the "real world" though. Have you seen some of the outfits she wears?

Thanks for the Fashion Police tip. Maybe when I have an hour or three I'll go check that out.

Awhile ago you posted some interesting fashions -- no doubt thinking nobody sane would ever wear any of them. And I, too, doubted we'd ever see them in the real world.

Surprise! MTV European Awards -- the holy heck!dress you singled out? actually on stage. Which for all intents and purposes, stands in for the real world.

Check out the Fashion Police Files... carefully. It's like quicksand -- you get deeper and deeper, and slowly, the panic wears off, and you just accept that you're gonna be looking at unimaginable clothes for the rest of your life...

Tim Gunn, save me!

I like the last dustmop dress much better than any other one-shoulder strap dress I have seen this year, and that's including Michelle Obama's inauguration dress. Something about it, structurally speaking, grabs me and gives me a shake.

Oregon,
You are absolutely right. I just went back and reread my post and boy, did it sound nasty. The pictures definitely shocked me into posting them, which is the kind of response I guess the designers were going for.

As for my clothes, yes, I admit I am stuck in a bit of a rut. But that's what I get for trying to fit in to a society that would laugh me out of existence if I tried to wear some of the things that designers create. My hair, on the other hand...I am constantly changing it, trying to make it look better. When your hair has a life of its own, all you want is to make it behave.

I love to look at fashion as art. I can appreciate the effort it took into making it but that does not mean will like each and every piece. So, there you have it. Thank you for your comment. I appreciate the time it took for you to write thoughtfully, even if I may not agree with every word. Don't you just love free speech and a polite exchange of ideas? :)
