Okay, I don’t get it. What’s up with people’s blogrolls? There are so many varieties out there, I’m getting confused. Here are just a few variations that I’ve discovered in my travels across the interwebs:
1. Short (these people are obviously lazy- oh, wait, that includes me)
2. Super-long (these people love EVERY BLOG THEY’VE EVER SEEN- you know who you are)
3. Absent (it’s just not there- what, you have no friends? What’s wrong with you?)
4. Organized (these people obviously have WAY too much time on their hands)
5. Good God that’s a lot of blogs (This one has well over a thousand blogs listed)
6. Those that don’t include me (are you TRYING to hurt my feelings?)
I just want to take a moment and give a shout out to my friend, Da Goddess, who was the very first person to put me on their blogroll. Thanks, Joanie! You like me, you really like me!
What’s not to like? I was happy to add you and still am.
As for blogrolls, some people add links just to add them, like those who think “friending” someone on Myspace will make them popular.
You’ve never seen my full blogroll. I’m still in the process of adding everything from my old sidebar to the new one. It’s kind of extensive, but for the most part, I read every blog on there at least once a month. I have different blogrolls for different things, most of which only make sense to me.
Those who don’t have ANY blogroll probably have their favorites bookmarked. Those who have a bazillion are just insane. And those who have them super organized, well, with all their extra time and efficiency should spend their time at my house trying to help me get organized and efficient. I need the help in the worst way.
I decided to add to my blogroll last night- a moment of productivity while the baby was asleep and the husband was with his friends. Now I don’t look quite so lazy. I still have another 15 or so bookmarked but am not sure if they are blogs I really want to follow as diligently as I do the others, so they can wait.
You know, that’s why I had more than one blogroll originally. First, there were all the blogs I read every single day. Then there were the locals/semi-locals I kept track of. Then there were those who were a part of some second tier reading and I’d check in at least once a week. And then there were the blah blah blah blah blahs. I’ve pared down considerably, but I still have more to add. I have my Californians and my “if I don’t roll ‘em, I’ll forget ‘em and I don’t want to forget ‘em” list. I’m pretty dopey that way. Some habits die hard.
I don’t have a blogroll because I don’t know how to set one up. No offense to anyone, but I am technologically challenged:) I’m hoping that there will be enough teenagers around my house this fall to help me improve!!!
I enjoyed perusing your site. Thanks for visiting mine. I hope you will be back for a visit!
Setting up a blogroll is super easy in blogspot. I have a blogspot account as well (drowningindoghair.blogspot.com) and found it really easy to use, even for me.
Thanks for commenting- I have seen you around Da Goddess’s website recently and have visited your site but was not inspired to comment until just today (or was it yesterday?). The days are starting to run together.
Big Hair must be one of Deb’s. I don’t recall running into BHE at my site, unless it’s under an assumed name.
You know, back in the day, Blogger didn’t have blogroll capabilities. It was so different back then. Back in the dark ages of 2002.
I’m just glad we’ve all found each other. I’m having lots of fun!
Yep, you’re right. I found her on sandiegomomma.com. I spend a lot of time at your site as well as hers, so I guess I got them mixed up! I should never comment after 9 pm. Or should I always comment after 9 pm? At least that way I’d be consistent.
I’m having fun, too! When I first started this process a few months ago, I wanted to be a part of the humor and wit that is mamablogging because I found so many amazing women who were doing amazing writing. Now I am! I don’t have a lot of friends outside of school, so I’m finding that this whole experience is expanding my horizons. Yay!
Thanks for stopping by my blog. I appreciate you taking the time to comment despite being tired. My blogroll has grown a bit because I need a way to remember blogs that I like. Yes I could use a reader but at this point there are so many blogs in my reader it is overwhelming. I think I will stop now – I am tired and generally verbose. You don’ t need that and neither do I. Good night. Thanks again!
Thanks for your very nice comment on my post tonight — and for my spot on your blogroll! Mine is getting long and somewhat unwieldy, but I have the blogs organized in my reader according to “must reads” and “getting to know” and other folders, so that it’s easier to dip in and out. But I also find that the blogs I’m reading most often shifts around a bit. For a while I’ll read some every day, then a few of those will be switched out for a few others, then some of the originals will come back. It’s part of the fun for me.
I look forward to getting to know you better. Thanks so much for letting me know you’d stopped by.
